BREAKING NEWS | WIS family and friends kick off the summer with its annual company picnic and softball tournament
June 12, 2010- Corona, CA
WIS family and friends get together to kick off the summer during its annual company picnic and softball tournament held at Parkview Park in Corona, CA on June 12, 2010. The day was packed with fun-filled activities for all ages. We started the day off with a little friendly competition as four teams battled for bragging rights and the coveted WIS Softball Tournament World Champion trophy. A kids t-ball tournament was also held for the smaller children to enjoy a friendly game with the help and supervision of their parents.
The softball tournaments were followed by an employee awards ceremony whereby employees are recognized for their achievements, both big and small, over the past year. To name a few, achievement awards were given for Commitment to Safety for outstanding safety record and demonstrated commitment to upholding safety practices, "Guy Wire" award selected by staff votes for consistent outstanding performance, reliability and steadfast support of the company and its employees, and Milestone awards to staff members who celebrate their 5th year with WIS. In addition, recognition awards were given for teamwork (Larry, Darryl and Darryl award for most tight-knit group), character (Old Yeller award for most faithful), and notable accomplishments throughout the year (Seven-Eleven award for most weekend work, Night Owl award for most night work, Road Warrior award for most out of town work, etc). Lastly, to add some fun, a few entertaining and light-hearted awards were given to celebrate the uniqueness of individual staff members that add character to WIS with awards such as the Loch Ness award for the individual least likely to be found, the Human Vulture Award for the person known to eat anything found laying around, and the Jeff Gordon Award for racing out of work the fastest, to name a few.
After the employee awards ceremony and enjoying a hearty Chuckwagon BBQ-style meal, the rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and enjoying the day at the park while partaking in the Fun Olympics which consisted of several games from big foot relay races, tug-o-war, marshmallow golf, balloon toss, and a pie-eating contest. Throughout the event, kids enjoyed giant bouncers, kids craft stations, face painting, and a cotton candy and snow cone station to beat the heat. Lucky winners won gift cards and prizes throughout the day during the raffle giveaways.
The annual company picnic is just one of the ways WIS thanks its staff and their families and for their unwavering commitment, hard work, and dedication that has brought WIS success through the years.
