BREAKING NEWS | WIS deploys Verizon Wireless COW for Presidential candidate debate

With Obama and McCain scheduled for their first debate at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA; WIS was called in by Verizon Wireless to set up a last minute COW (Cell on Wheels) for increased capacity at the highly anticipated event. WIS provided a full turnkey effort for this engagement, which went off without a hitch. WIS crews worked closely with Verizon, Saddleback Church, local police, SCE, local fire, and the city to locate a suitable location, gain access, and pull permits in short order. WIS crews performed LOS (Line of Sight) surveys to numerous donor locations for the microwave link required to transport the additional T1's needed for the COW. Our crews deployed the microwave system, transported and set up the COW and generator, completed the cell antenna system installation, powered up the system, tested, and integrated the COW, meeting the "on air" deadline with time to spare. Additionally, special fire prevention measures were taken to mitigate any potential fire hazard and on site support was provided with special access arrangements through the Sheriff department and SCE on Saturday during the event. The COW was decommissioned the following Monday as if it were never there. WIS would like to thank Verizon, SCE, the city of Lake Forest, Orange County Sheriff, the local fire department, and Saddleback Church for their support on this project.
