BREAKING NEWS | WIS Completes Auxiliary Transmission Line Relocation for KAZA CH. 54
November 6, 2009- Mt. Wilson, CA
WIS was contracted by KAZA to re-route their main analog transmission line to their auxiliary DTV antenna located on Mt. Wilson, CA. After fires, road closures, snow, and mud slides subsided, WIS crews were able to obtain access and made quick work of this scope. WIS designed the new route and provided all new rigid materials, fine matchers, impedance matchers, and reducers needed to complete the intricate routing of the existing 75 ohm, 7" rigid line that had been used for KAZA's main analog transmissions before the DTV cutover. Placement of the impedance matchers was critical and the existing 7" rigid coax was cut back and re-routed with new the impedance matchers, reducers, elbows, and custom fabricated rigid pieces – then swept and pressurized to verify installation was up to specifications. A new ice shield was designed, custom fabricated, and installed over the new transmission line location at the top of tower. The old damaged 6" coax was then removed from the tower to reduce loading.
