BREAKING NEWS | San Miguel Mountain fire restoration complete!
January 31, 2009- San Diego, CA
In October 2007, a devastating firestorm ripped through San Diego County and wreaked havoc on homes, businesses, utility infrastructure and communication systems. The communications facilities located on San Miguel Mountain were among the hardest hit losing utilities, buildings, structures, and communications systems overnight. WIS was among the first few emergency responders escorted to the affected facilities by personnel from the US Fish & Wildlife Service together with site operator Price, Troncone & Associates, Inc. WIS assisted utility crews and tenants with refueling generators, assessing site damages and providing damage investigation results and updates.
Immediately following our initial site visit, WIS was engaged by PriceTroncone to provide temporary shelters and utility services for their impacted tenants. This included contracting with KPBS Public Television & Radio to relocate their FM broadcast system to San Diego State University. WIS has since provided site clean up, surveying, tenant relocation, utility coordination, design/structural analysis, infrastructure & tower antenna system installation and various other related consulting services to PriceTroncone and their tenants while the facilities were being rebuilt.
“WIS’ initial actions resulted in our tenants being able to provide critically needed communication services to the San Diego Region both during and after the firestorm” said PriceTroncone’s president, Dick Troncone. “Their emergency response and subsequent efforts proved to be invaluable in returning our site to normal operations”. WIS is proud to have been a part of this project and thankful to have been provided the opportunity to work with PriceTroncone. The result is a state of the art facility, designed for secure and cost effective communication system service operation with plenty of capacity for tenant growth.
The facilities located on San Miguel Mountain encompass one of the largest communications sites in Southern California. This prime hub houses numerous public safety, broadcast, microwave repeater, 2-way, paging, cable, cellular and wireless systems serving greater San Diego County and surrounding areas. For information on this facility, please feel free to contact Travis Donahue at (877) 538-2663.
