Construction Manager
The Construction Manager is in charge of planning, budgeting, and directing the construction project. The Construction Manager also tracks the progress of construction operations such as the arrival and utilization of materials, supplies, tools, machinery, equipment, and vehicles. The Construction Manger may take care of securing the needed permits and licenses for projects. Must be ready to respond to urgent questions, establish priorities, and delegate tasks as necessary.
Essential Functions
- Is in charge of planning, budgeting, and directing the construction project
- Tracks the progress of construction operations such as the arrival and utilization of materials, supplies, tools, machinery, equipment, and vehicles
- May take care of securing the needed permits and licenses for projects
- Must be ready to respond to urgent questions, establish priorities, and delegate tasks as necessary
- Attend job walks as requested
- Perform and / or directly oversee all activity relating to installation, fabrication or construction work
- Communicate regularly and work closely with techs, PC and PM to ensure overall quality and timely completion of jobs
- Direct crew and individuals on site; ensure each person is aware of SOW for the workday and the timeframe for completion; communicate and carry out quality expectations
- Upon arriving at the job site: assess the site hazards, conduct safety meeting, identify nearest medical facility, go over SOW with crew, assign tasks and direct crew throughout workday to ensure the timely completion of the job without compromising safety and quality
- Report / document material usage and need and ensure all required tools, materials, keys and resources are available for each job and assigned Company vehicle is stocked with required tools, materials and supplies
- Fill out and understand requirements for close out packages
- Monitor and ensure cleanliness and professional appearance of all crew members, job sites, company vehicles, etc
- Accurate and timely completion / submission of paperwork:
- Timesheets, completed Daily Job Information Sheet, site photos, information required for reports (survey, install, etc.) are due at 7:00am the following day
- Final Job / project update for the workday is due within 3 hours of leaving job site (unless client requires it sooner)
- Possess a working knowledge of all Company policies and procedures and facilitate its implementation and enforcement
- Practice, teach, and enforce all applicable safety rules, policies and procedures. Continuously watch for, report or correct unsafe working conditions or behaviors as appropriate. Ensure accidents/incidents are promptly reported and investigated
- Train field personnel on how to perform job functions, Company standards and protocol, safety rules and requirements (Company and OSHA), and Company policies and procedures. Evaluate performance, progress and observance of rules
- Work with PM and HR to address attendance, performance and other employee issues
- Attend tradeshows, appropriate training opportunities, sales/client meetings, and Company events as requested
- Perform all duties and responsibilities detailed in all applicable Company policies, procedures and work flowcharts

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 yrs. industry experience (broadcast, microwave, wireless, construction or general tower related work) required
- Valid driver's license
- Good physical condition and stamina, comfortable with heights
- Must be computer literate and proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Streets and Trips
- Attention to detail, strong leadership, problem solving, time management and interpersonal skills required
Typical Working Conditions
99% of work is performed outside on job sites with exposure to hazardous conditions and adverse conditions (e.g. working heights of 500 ft. plus, inclement weather, remote sites, etc.). May be required to work irregular, late, or long hours and drive/travel long distances. Occasional overnight travel may also be required.
Equipment Used
Hand and power tools, test equipment (cathead, wiltron, etc.), ladders, etc.
Upon certification any or all of the following may be utilized: climbing, rigging, bucket truck, manlift, forklift
Essential Physical Tasks
Position requires dexterity, good vision, and involves demanding physical activity and exertion required for rigging, tower climbing, carrying various tools, equipment and materials up to 75 pounds and performing other construction duties.
